Child and Adult Care Food Program

Goals
The goals of the Child and Adult Care Food Program are:

  • to improve and maintain the health and nutritional status of children and adults;
  • promote development of good eating habits;
  • integrate nutritious food service with organized day care services.

Program Components
The CACFP comprises three components:

Contractor Reimbursement
Program funds are used to reimburse contractors for:

  • administrative expenses;
  • meals and supplements (snacks) served at day care centers and day care homes;
  • start-up and expansion activities; and
  • cash-in-lieu of USDA-donated commodities.
