
Goals
The goals
of the Child and Adult Care Food Program are:
- to improve
and maintain the health and nutritional status of children
and adults;
- promote
development
of good eating habits;
- integrate
nutritious food service with organized day care services.
Program Components
The CACFP comprises three components:
Contractor Reimbursement
Program funds are used to reimburse contractors
for:
- administrative
expenses;
- meals and supplements
(snacks) served at day care centers and day care homes;
- start-up
and expansion activities; and
- cash-in-lieu
of USDA-donated commodities.
