Summer Food Service Program MEDIA KIT for Sponsors

Thank you for serving as a Summer Food Service Program sponsor and providing “Friends, Fun & Free Food!” to children in your community.

This Media Kit contains electronic files for outreach and promotion of the Summer Food Service Program. We know many of you are already successfully promoting your program within the community and through the media. We hope the enclosed tools will enhance your current promotional efforts and possibly assist you in thinking of new ways to get the word out about your program.

Below is an outline of all the tools and some general instructions.

Important: The content on these files have been reviewed for legal and message content. For those reasons, it is essential that when using files for local use, only alter the content that directly pertains to your specific area.

Billboards
There are two designs available for the billboards. The read-only PDF files below are only examples; they are not to be used as production. If you are able to secure billboard space and printing of the paper/vinyl, we can provide the billboard company with this artwork in a format they can use.

If desired, slight adjustments can be made to the design of these billboards. We can add your program/organization’s logo and possibly one other element. We can add local elements in the area under the tagline that says “Friends, Fun & Free Food!” We can also provide billboards in Spanish.

If you would like to order a billboard, please call Kelvin Anderson at 512-438-4260 or Michael Jones at 512-438-3047. When you call these staff members, be prepared to provide your billboard company’s contact name and phone number. They will need to work directly with them to learn the dimensions, format and the best way to provide them the artwork.

Radio Public Service Announcement Scripts
Seven radio public service announcements (PSAs) are included in this kit. The scripts are short and designed for live-reads. A live-read PSA is a short announcement that can be read by the station's on-air talent. We have included several 15-second and 10-second readers to accommodate the placement availability of the station.

The document, "Radio Scripts OVERVIEW," is a list of all the PSAs and is for your use only. The radio stations will want each script on a separate document. You will need to add your local information to each of these scripts.

If you don't already have a contact at the radio station, ask to speak to the PSA director. Give a short explanation of your program and ask the PSA director if they will run your 10 and 15 second PSAs promoting the Summer Food Service Program.

JPG Art
In this kit there are a variety of Summer Food Service Program logos – black and white, color, Spanish and English. There are also several graphic elements we use in our Summer Food Service Program materials. These JPGs can be inserted into a Word document. If you want the graphic to be smaller or larger, be careful not to stretch and distort the graphic.

To change the size of a JPG and maintain the correct proportions, do the following:

  1. After inserting the graphic, click on it so you can see the little boxes on the lines around the graphic.
  2. Hold down the CONTROL key, then grab one of the corner boxes with your mouse.
  3. You can then drag outwards (larger) or inwards (smaller) while continuing to hold down the CONTROL key.

If the graphic includes text and you need to make it smaller, be careful not to shrink it too much – the text needs to be legible.

Color Flyer, 3 Up Flyers, Brochure Booklet and Poster
Below is a read-only PDF of each collateral item, which you can view and print. If you take any of these items to a professional printer or graphic designer, you may need to give them additional graphic files. To obtain these additional files, contact Fawn Escalante at 512-424-6951.

  • Color Flyer (8.5” x 11”) – English and Spanish information is on the same document. You can make copies of this flyer by printing the PDF on your computer’s printer.

    Color Flyer (PDF)

  • 3 Up Flyers (11” x 8.5”) – This document provides three vertical flyers on one page (3.6875” x 8.5”, when cut). English and Spanish versions are on separate documents. You can print these on your computer’s printer, write in your local information in the appropriate fields and then make more copies. There are cut-lines on this document to show you where you need to make two cuts and separate the flyers. Please note that this is a two-sided flyer – you will need to print/copy two sides. A printer or graphic designer can insert your local information and it will look more professional.

  • Brochure booklet (11” x 8.5”) – Ideally, this will be folded in half and saddle-stitched. The final size is 5.5” x 8.5”.

    Brochure Booklet (PDF)

  • Poster (17” x 22”) – Unless you have the capability to print on large paper, you should take this to a professional printer. You will also need to have a graphic artist or printer insert your local information in the appropriate fields.
