Become a Summer Food Service Program Sponsor!

Whether you have decided to sponsor a meal site again this year or you are interested in becoming a sponsor for the first time, this website is designed to help walk you through the process.

What is the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)?

As a SFSP sponsor, you can help children get the food they need to fuel up for summer fun so they can learn, play, and grow when they are not in school. The Summer Food Service Program provides free, healthy meals for children age 18 and younger in their communities.

Program sponsors serve meals with milk, meat, fruits, vegetables, and bread. All meals and snacks meet federal nutrition standards.

What is a sponsor?

An organization agreeing to operate the SFSP is called a sponsor. Sponsors may be

  • public or private nonprofit school food authorities
  • public or private nonprofit residential summer camps
  • units of state, local, municipal, or county governments
  • public or private nonprofit colleges or universities participating in the National Youth Sports Program
  • private, nonprofit tax exempt organizations

Sponsors have administrative and financial responsibility for all sites they operate.
